Our History
The founders of Lampstand Learning System are Perspectives coordinators who are also computer software specialists/web developers living in Silicon Valley, the home of Yahoo, Google, eBay and other internet startups. After coordinating courses for a few years, they began development of a classroom automation solution in 2004 based on the Moodle project, an open source learning management project based at a university in Perth Australia that has been adopted by thousand of universities on 36,000 websites in 196 countries and 70 languages supporting over 15 millon students.
The Lampstand software program has been refined after each of the five semesters that it has been in use and has been proven in over 100 classes serving over 3,000 students. Each refinement incorporates best practices learned each semester, takes advantage of new capabilities offered by Moodle and other software providers while providing continuity to the user community made up with several organizations who offer instructor-led and online education programs.
